Terrible place, terrible service, unacceptable at all levels.

I was hospitalized with an infection that spread from my elbow up and down my arm, causing me to get a major fever, almost unable to open my eyes and walk. I was referred to “At Home Care” as the hospital was over capacity..

Upon receiving a phone call from Joan the first day I was released, they pretty much told me I would be skipping my first dose because the office wasn’t open during the hours I had received my previous dosage.

Then a voicemail was left the same day asking me to come to their office at Vodden to get the treatment, and not for 8 am in the morning , but for 4 pm. Which would essentially restart my dosage.

I called today to ask if I could get in home care, like if someone could come to my house as for one I can’t drive, secondly I have three kids below 6 at home, I can’t just leave them. The lady over the phone referred me to Esther, who had seemed like she had her mind made up before I even asked. She said I was ineligible to receive home care, I’d have to come in person to the clinic and get assessed. I told her I was unable to travel, I’ve been having a very high fever, which makes me wobbly when I stand and she didn’t care.

Esther said, you’re telling me you can’t take Uber, public transit, get a ride from a friend or anything else? Why would I spend extra time and money to receive the healthcare that I’ve paid this country for the past 20 years? It’s ridiculous that I have to go out of my way, while I’m sick and my infection is spreading up my arm, fever is getting worst and she as a medical professional didn’t understand what people experience when they are feverish or going through medical problems.

I asked her if they just want me to go back to the hospital and figure it out from there. She said that’s up to you, then I asked you guys just want people to die? You guys made me miss almost two doses of my medication and are now not willing to accommodate? She said I don’t pass the requirements and kept referring to her notes like she had physically met me and saw the condition I’m in.

Anyways, our system is flawed and these people don’t care for your wellbeing, they like to sit behind a phone and do the least amount of work to just get their pay check to go home. Your lives don’t matter, if they did, they would do what they could to help.

There was a few more things that were discussed but I’m not feeling well and wanted to write as much before I go back to sleep.

Thanks for nothing

Called on Easter Monday to refer a person for OT assessment. The person who picked up the phone basically rejected to register this senior, mentioning long wait time.
She gave contacts of two vendors. None of that was helpful.
One vendor is for those who can pay for mobility devices from their pocket/she should have mentioned that.
And the other vendor CCAC worker referred to , Mobiliy Specialty, address and tel given are incorrect!
As soon as you Google it, it comes out permanently moved, number not in service.
So, please update your referral contacts please.
Not only they deter new clients as much as possible, , but they are unable to make proper referrals to outside agencies.
I am not here to spread anger, but simply stating facts.
No wonder government is moving to closing down this services.
Totally unsatisfactory service.
Did not help at all

The case manager is non responsive. I've asked several times to change the agency for PSW services & it hasn't been addressed. Welcome to Doug Ford's Ontario. Services were better executed under a Liberal government. This is what happens when ppl don't vote. Good luck to all.

Ourageous! Is my husband's second visit here. I am learning to change, clean and take care of my husband's Nefrosthomy tubes. First visit went well. Today, The nurse, a different nurse ( a black lady' )said I am not allowed to be in the roomeven though my hasband told her I am learning the cleaning process. Abruptly, she said is not about what he wants but is all about what SHE WANTS!

Terrible attitude coming from a nurse that si about to care for a patient.

The artificial "shortage" for nurses, doctors and health care professionals in general who really care about everyone's health over corporate policies and personal wealth; is on HCCSS, its CEO and Managers who do not understand Health Care at all, and they are only there to follow the directives of the Board of Directors who follow bogus and completely unscientific regulations from the Provincial and Federal Ministry of Health and the ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. Let this sync in and let it be clear for all of you guys, who are putting your loved ones in these people's hands.

The appointments mean nothing. They are so relaxed not realizing people who visit them are sick and sitting on a chair for 45 minutes extra after appointment is not so pleasant.
Just an update on my second visit.decised to chage to three stars.
